Going for Gold - Durham College advances to the CCSA National Finals



CCSA National Championship Semi-Finals: Durham defeated Saskatchewan 5-0

Gold Medal Game – Durham vs. Western – Monday



REGINA, SK – The Durham College women’s fastball team look to win their first ever national championship on Monday as they will play in the gold medal game at the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association (CCSA) Championship in Regina, Saskatchewan.

The Lords earned a berth in the national finals with a 5-0 shutout over the University of Saskatchewan Huskies in the semi-finals. With the win, Durham is 4-0 at the national championship.



Kristine Miles pitched a brilliant game for Durham as she went the distance allowing only three Husky hits. This marked Miles’ second shutout at the national championship after she blanked Regina on Saturday.



The Lords scored two runs in the first, one in the second, fifth and six innings to win by a final score of 5-0.



Melissa Semeniuk went 3-for-4 at the plate with three singles. Semeniuk is batting .615 at the national championship in four games.



Samantha Officer continued to swing a hot bat as she went 2-for-4 while driving in three runs. Kayla Worotniak was 2-for-2 in Sunday’s victory.



Vanessa Lawerence of the Huskies allowed all five runs and 11 Durham hits over six innings of work.



Durham will square off against the two-time defending national champion Western University Mustangs in the finals on Monday. Western defeated Humber 5-0 in the semi-finals to advance to the national championship game.

Western has won national championship medals in five straight seasons while the Lords have won back-to-back bronze medals.



Durham defeated Western 4-1 during round robin play.
