Argentina defeated Mexico 13-12 in a memorable match tonight, and secured the first place in the Pool B of this World Championship. Mexico started the game in a big way, going ahead 10-2 at the end of the third inning, but from there the host team made a historic comeback in the seventh, to win the game.

The last match of the day started in an electrifying way. At the top of the first inning, Argentina put on the board 2 runs. However, the Mexican side responded with their bats, scoring four runs in the first, another four in the second and two more in the third, to the astonishment of all the presents in Nafaldo Cargnel Stadium.

However, in the top of the fourth inning Argentina scored three runs, with the unconditional support of over 4000 people cheering for the home team. In the sixth inning, a triple by Ladislao Malarczuk and a huge homer by Juan Zara to the left shortened the difference, putting the game 10-8.

Argentina started its final at-bat trailing by two runs, and the best was yet to come. A single by Gandoy, and a hit by pitch by David Fernández placed the tying run in first. Then, Huemul Mata brought to the plate the first run of the inning with a double to right, putting runners on second and third, still with one out. And pinch-hitter Daniel Aranaz came up big with the clutch hit to put Argentina ahead in the score, with a two-run single. That play made Nafaldo Cargnel Stadium crazy, when the home team went ahead in the score after being down most of the game. Argentina would score two more runs to put the result 13-10 and bring tranquility to Argentina’s fans.

However, the Mexican team returned to the charge. Three consecutive singles loaded the bases, and with one out Daniel Lopez drove in Misael Rodriguez and Cesar Castañeda, leaving his team trailing by just one run.

However, with runners on first and second and one out, Juan Carlos Villalvazo hit a line drive fly ball to Malarczuk, who forced out the runner from second, completing the double play.

Argentina made a stunning comeback in a memorable night in Paraná city. With this result, the home side secured the first position in Pool B with five wins in as many games.
