Women's National Team Adds Four New Pool Coaches

(Ottawa, ON) Softball Canada is pleased to announce that four new coaches have been named to the Women's National Team Coaches Pool. Erin Cumpstone (Saskatoon, SK), Ken Leavoy (Vancouver, BC), Keith MacKintosh (Saskatoon, SK) and Haylee O'Neill (Oakville, MB) will join the current Women's National Team coaching staff for the 2013 season.

Erin Cumpstone is a two-time Olympian and spent twelve years as a member of the Women's National Team program, recently retiring at the conclusion of the 2012 season. Erin is widely known for her outstanding game calling skills and her ability to effectively manage a pitching staff at the international level, and has experience as a coach with the Saskatchewan team at the 2010 Western Canada Games.

Ken Leavoy has worked with the Women's National Team program since 2002, handling advanced scouting at the Canadian Open International Fastpitch Championships. Ken is a former senior men's player with the Vancouver Magicians of the Norwest Men's Fastball League and currently serves as head coach of Principia College's women's softball program in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Keith MacKintosh is the High Performance Provincial Coach and Head Coach of the 2013 Saskatchewan Canada Games women's softball program. Keith is a former Men's National Team player, winning gold at the 2003 Pan American Games and 2008 Three Nations Challenge, as well as a bronze medal at the 2009 International Softball Federation (ISF) Men's World Championships.

Haylee O'Neill is the Head Coach of the 2013 Manitoba Canada Games women's softball program and was a member of the Women's National Team athlete pool from 2003 to 2005. Haylee is a Master Learning Facilitator for the NCCP Coach Education Program in Manitoba.

The Junior and Senior Women's National Teams will hold regional evaluation camps from May 23 to 26, 2013 in Cloverdale, BC and from June 13 to 16, 2013 in Brampton, ON. The Junior team will play in the ISF X Junior Women's World Championship from July 1 to 7, 2013 in Brampton, ON. The Senior team will be playing in the US World Cup of Softball VIII (dates and location to be determined), the Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship from July 16 to 22, 2013 in Surrey, BC, and the VIII Women's Pan American Championship from August 8 to 17, 2013 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
