Salem, VA

Superior Paint, Salem-2
WP- Chuck Smith  7 innings, 3 hits allowed, 4 K's
LP- ?
Larry Williams- 4 for 4
Tom Avery- 3 for 4 1HR 3RBI's
Superior Paint was the most solid defensive team we played and also hit the ball well but right at our fielders.  If they had a strong pitcher they would be a very competitive team in the ISCII.  3 or 4 of their players played minor league ball.

Jeff Carr- 3 for 4
Jason Whiteley- 1 for 3 1HR
Steve Mothersell- 3 for 3
This was a well played game.  More of a pitchers duel and a couple of mistakes by both squads allowed some runs.  Orr Park scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning.  PA Power fired back with 4 runs in the top of the 6th inning all with 2 outs and nobody on base.  Bottom of the 6th inning Orr Park led off the inning with a HR and had guys on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and were unable to get another run.

Game 7
Knights-5
Lancaster Merchants-7
WP-?
LP- Chuck Smith 7 innings, 11 hits, 3K's
Jeff Carr- 3 for 3
Tom Avery- 2 for 4
Roger Karn- 3 for 4 2RBI's
Orr Park led 4-3 going into the top of the 7th inning.  2 back to back homeruns put Lancaster up 5-4 and were able to score 2 more runs in the inning.  Orr Park was able to push 1 run across in the bottom of the 7th inning.  Mothersell tore his hamstring in the bottom of the 1st inning and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.  Every time he came up to bat the Knights had to take an out for the rest of the game.  Chuck Smith pitched every inning and for a guy in his 50's it shows a lot of heart and we appreciated it Chuck.  7 games is a lot to ask for in 2 days.  In Game 5 we could tell the heat and the number of games were wearing him down.  Unfortunately we were without our other pitcher Justin Heyman due to having a boil removed from his hip and he was unable to walk very well.  He is resting for the ToC.
