I just received a call from the family of ICC Hall of Fame  Member Floyd Hammen, as he passed away this afternoon, after a lengthy  illness.

Hammen, Floyd A.
Floyd A. Hammen, Little Chute, age 81, died Friday April 12, 2013 at Grand Horizons. He was born December 5, 1931 in Appleton to the late Joseph "Cully" and Christine (Sanderfoot) Hammen. In his high school years, Floyd played football, basketball, boxing and baseball. As a sophomore, he was asked to play ball with Connie's Bar of Kimberly. His high school athletic career went on to include playing with the Little Chute Flying Dutchman football team and the Little Chute Merchants. Following his 1949 graduation from high school, Floyd signed with the Cubs and played with Janesville from 1949-1952. He then signed with the Orioles and played and managed with them in Valdosta, GA from 1953-1954. After leaving the Orioles, he returned home where he organized, managed and played with the Little Chute/Kimberly Merchants and played hockey for Bergeron Sports. Floyd always loved to be part of a team. He was a member of the line up for numerous local establishments, including touch football and softball with Bliers Bar and softball with Bob & Mary's Bar. From there, he started, managed and played with Jack's Rose Hill for approximately eight years. In 1975 Floyd became the state softball commissioner until 2000. He was a member of the board of directors for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and the curator for the Kimberly Softball Hall of Fame (ISC).
Floyd is survived by his sister Janice (Jim "Wimpy") Wydeven, Combined Locks; Godchildren: (and niece) Lorie (Bert) Vosters, Patti and Dave Mulry; and nieces and nephews: Guy (Cari), Jeff (Lisa), Joe (Heather) and Scott Ludwig, Todd (special friend Julie), and Jody (Barb) Wydeven, Lori (Pat) LeBlanc, Amy (Dave) King and Kelly Kalies. He is further survived by many cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his former wife, Karen (Mulry) Hammen; and sister: Bede (Joe) Ludwig.
Visitation will be held on Monday April 15, 2013 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 3:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. The Rev.
