TOM CLANCY - Waterloo Region Hall of Fame

Congratulations to a great friend of softball....Great news in the
Waterloo Region Record this past Monday...  Tom Clancy's many
professional  and volunteer accomplishments were acknowledged with his
selection to the Waterloo Region Hall of  Fame.  His selection was based
on the many contributions Tom has made throughout his career.  Of note
to fastpitch softball players, teams, fans, and volunteers is Tom's past
chairmanship of  the ISCs World Tournament.  Tom was also a member of
the legendary Tien Hoa fastball club one of  the top  local teams and
winners of many KFL championships along with many area tournaments.  The
Tien Hoa was a dominant club in the 70s and 80s, with Tom behind the
plate.... Part of Tom's leadership of that club is still evident today.
Many of Tom's teamates and Tien Hoa alumni are still very productively
involved with fastpitch in the Kitchener area.  Tom continues to
volunteer at fastball events.  He recently was involved with the Special
Hockey International tournament at the Auditorium and is active with
the  Kitchener Sports Association, a group that suppots atheletes and
teams throughout the Region of Waterloo.

One of Bruce county's finest sons...Always positive, and always helpful,
a great H of F selection.

SPRING TRAINING

In Woodstock, the OASA  under the leadership of Gary Waugh ran one of
their "Springboard" clinics.  Pitchers, batters, instructors, and young
softball players working on their skills.  Bruce Young, Gilles Butcher,
Jamie Simpson, George Ryder were just some  of the instructors I saw
working with the area's young ball players.

A couple of  weeks ago at Waterloo's Rim field house,  the Shakespeare
Falcons and the Waterloo Classics led dozens of young KWMinor ball
players through a spring clinic as well.  Sam Forbes and Brandon Horn at
the batting stages, Fred Follings and Larry Cox working with pitchers,
Jodie Schnarr and Bruce Young working on throwing and fielding.  Thanks
to those ball players and the other Falcons on hand for their help in
passing on some great softball tips and skills to the youngsters.

Ray Alviano has his annual pitchers clinic set for Grand River Arena in
Kitchener.  The dates are May 3 - 4 - 5 and May 10 - 11 - 12..Again the
head instructor is Doug Neil.  There may still be some room in this
premium clinic.  Give Ray a  call at 519 893 4684 or email at
rayalviano@gmail.com

There are 3 levels of instruction...beginner, up to 3 years experience,
intermediate, 3 to 5 years and Advanced..
Many of the pitchers in the KFL, South Perth, and other leagues have
taken instruction at this clinic.

It is a good one.

KITCHENER FASTBALL LEAGUE - Begins May 13th..with opening week games at
