The Maritime Fastball League begins its season this weekend in Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia.

 

The six-team league will play weekend tournaments, with each club hosting once. All teams will participate in a season-ending championship tournament Aug. 24-25.

 

Entries this year are the Halifax Pepper Jack's, East Hants and the provincial under-21 team from Nova Scotia, the Moncton Cardinals from New Brunswick, and the Charlottetown Fawcetts and O'Leary Eagles from Prince Edward Island.

 

The schedule for the opening weekend is as follows:

 

Saturday, June 1

 

10 a.m. - N.S. under-21s vs. Halifax

Noon - Moncton vs. Charlottetown

2 p.m. - Charlottetown vs. Halifax

4 p.m. - Moncton vs. Halifax

6 p.m. - Moncton vs. N.S. under-21s

8 p.m. - Charlottetown vs. N.S. under-21s

 

Sunday, June 2

 

10 a.m. - Semifinal: first vs. fourth

Noon - Semifinal: second vs. third

2 p.m. - Final: semifinal winners

 

The weekend tournament schedule is as follows:

 

June 1-2 (at Shubenacadie) - N.S. under-21s, Moncton, Charlottetown, Halifax

 

June 15-16 (at O'Leary) - East Hants, Moncton, O'Leary, N.S. under-21s

 

June 29-30 (at Charlottetown) - Charlottetown, N.S. under-21s, O'Leary, Halifax

 

July 6-7 (at East Hants) - East Hants, Halifax, N.S. under-21s, Moncton

 

July 27-28 (at Moncton) - Charlottetown, Moncton, O'Leary, East Hants

 

Aug. 3-4 (at Halifax) - East Hants, Halifax, Charlottetown, O'Leary

 

Aug. 24-25 - League championship (site TBA)
