The NAFA Open is almost here. This years line up should be the best level of competition yet at the NAFA Open in Fargo.

 

This years teams include several 2012 ISC World Tournament competitors including #5 Kegel Black Knights who will have Gerald Muizelaar returning after a strong finish in 2012. #7 Saskatoon Diamondbacks will look to Devon McCullough to caring more of the pitching load with the retirement of the great Dean Holoien. The #9 Minnesota Angels with the new look of Justin Schofield on the rubber will look to restart their winning ways. A much more experienced #14 Sooke Loggers and last years NAFA Open runner up will be a definite favorite to finish late on Sunday and #22 Circle Tap Dukes will defend their 2012 Championship with the arm of Rob Schweyer.

 

This years tournament will also include the #23 ranked Topeka Toros with the up and coming Josh Pettett, the defending Canadian Native National Champions Invermere A's, the Winnipeg Bullets with pitchers Brady Woods and Kevin Kamueller, the young and hungry West Fargo Knights with Jr. New Zealand throwers Jackson Prime and Ben Watts and rounding out the field will be Rooters Bar with young New Zealand pitcher Ryan Britt.

 

The competition is tentatively scheduled to be played at the historic Mickelson Park. Fargo was hit with a flood again this year which damaged the fields but the City of Fargo is working diligently to have them back in championship condition by the opening pitch, however Mother Nature does have some say in the matter and heavy rains have been slowing the restoration.  With a little luck and hard work they should be ready to go, however other arrangements have been made and an alternate schedule is ready encase there is not enough sun to finish the work in time for the tournament.

 

This years tournament will feature live streamed play-by-play from iScore for all games and live streaming of the main diamond (if playable). The Fargo Fastpitch Facebook page and Twitter feed will also be set up with regular updates.
