Between the US and Canada, there will be a total of 6 fastpitch softball teams (Mens Open; Mens 35-Over Masters; and Women's Open) competing for softball medals in Israel. Three interesting World Maccabiah Games and Maccabi USA Factoids:

 

* The World Maccabiah Games are the 3rd largest sporting event in the world, with over 8,500 athletes competing from 80 countries.

 

* The 2013 Maccabi USA Contingency of 1,165 American athletes, coaches, and staff will be the largest USA team to ever travel abroad to represent our country in any previous multi-sport competition. including the Olympic Games.

 

* The Opening Ceremonies will be held at Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem in front of 40,000 spectators on the evening of Thursday July 18th. Israel is 7 hours ahead of EST; 8 hours ahead of CST; and 10 hours ahead of PST.
