July 11, 2013

Kitchener, ON

Your Milk Calendar hanging on your kitchen wall has a big red circle on
it for today, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.., or your Blackberry has a
notation in your electonic file and it is about to let you know that the
Cephas Roth Memorial tournament is this weekend in Tavistock..

Thursday nite is the opening game of this years Cephas Roth Memorial.

The teams are ready to head to Tavistocks Queens Park and Optimist Park
for a weekend of great fastpitch, good food, cold drinks, and two great
local bands playing in the new pavilion...

This is a ten teamer, featuring some great Ontario teams, plus two
from Michigan.

The OASA Champs, and Canadian Bronze medal winners, Kitchener Hallman
Cubs open up Thursday nite with a game against the Shakespeare Falcons.
The Falcons topped pool play in their division in the recent Legends of
Fastball tournament in Kitchener. They beat the Cubs 1 - 0 in the Legends..
Shakespeare is also building towards the Canadians later this summer in
nearby Stratford. They are the host team in the Canadians.

That should be a good one to open the tournament Thursday evening.
Following that tilt, the Jarvis Hallman Twins meet the always strong
Elmira Erb Electric Expos...

Friday the schedule begins at 5pm...Hill United, 2013 Legends Champs
are up against the Kitchener Cubs, while Elmira meets Lake Simcoe
Lightning...

Then at 7pm Shakespeare meets Scarborough. Their match-up at the
Legends was rained out, and Scarborough was awarded first place in their
pool... Shakespeare then lost to Hill United 5 - 4 in the
playdown....Hill faced Scarborough in the final...

The Jarvis Twins meet Midland Explorers..Jarvis is the 2012 ISC
Champs..Midland Mich. was the host city. It is good to see Midland
back in Ontario.

9pm, Port Huron - Huron Wellness, another Michican team vs Six Nations
- Hill United, this years Legends winner, AAU champ and finalist at the
ISCs in Midland last year.

Lake Simcoe Lightning meets Wiarton at 9 pm

Saturday, a full schedule of games begins at 9am...3 games, Optimists,
Queens and a game in nearby Shakespeare.

11am is a match up of the Legends finalists..Scarborough vs Hill
United....the black vs black championship game at the Legends...Hill won
that one..4 - 2......

Three of the ISCs top ten ranked teams are in this one. Hallman Twins,
Hill United Chiefs, and the Force are ranked 1, 2, and 6...the Cubs,
Falcons, Elmira and Wiarton have proven records in tournament play this
summer...and strong showings over the past few years to deserve
attention....

games at Sharkespeare with the Quarter finals 9 pm Saturday nite.

Sunday, Semis and Championship games...9am, 11am and 1:30 pm

her family beside her in her last hours. Sue has been a volunteer with
Kitchener Fastball Promotions since the 90s. She has served fastball
extremely well, helping to bring many major international and national
tournaments to Kitchener. Sue was not able to be at this years Legends
