Alberta 11 vs. Nova Scotia 8

In the first game of the day, Alberta overcame a 6-2 deficit by scoring nine runs in the bottom of the sixth to pick up the win. Nova Scotia jumped out to an early lead by scoring two runs on errors in the top of the first, and added two runs in each of the fourth and sixth innings. Quebec scored three runs on four hits in the top of the first before Argentina scored two of their own in the bottom of the first. Quebec then added four runs to their lead in the third highlighted by a bases loaded single by Alexandre Lemieux that ended up scoring three runs on an error by the catcher, with Lemieux later scoring on a sacrifice fly. Argentina got back in the game by scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth, two of which were scored on a homerun by Franco Ortellado. Ryan Kirk got things started offensively for Newfoundland and Labrador with a two-run homerun in the top of the first inning, and after BC scored a run in the bottom of the second on a single by Brady Quaite, Walsh and Daniel Dalton each hit solo homeruns to start the inning and Kirk hit his second two-run homerun of the game later in the inning. In the top of the fourth, Dalton hit an RBI single; Jeremy O’Rielly added a grand slam and Mark Power hit a solo homerun to add to NL’s lead. NZ pitcher Ben Watts and NB pitcher Braden Scott engaged in a great pitching duel throughout the game. NZ scored a run in the top of the first on a sacrifice fly, and from there the pitching took over until New Brunswick tied the game on a solo homerun by Devon McKenzie in the bottom of the fifth. New Zealand got that run right back by scoring on a passed ball in the top of the sixth, but New Brunswick came back to tie the game again in the bottom of the seventh on an error. In the top of the eighth, New Zealand got two-run singles by Bradley Bennett and Josh Gettins, as well as a two-run double by Tim Campbell to put the game out of reach.
