DeKalb Hogs Win Two

The De Kalb HustleHogs opened up their 2006 season on a cold and rainy day in Cortland, Il. against the Sycamore Baptist Church.  The Sycamore Fastpitch Church League is still going strong.  Sycamore was a young athletic club with new young pitchers trying to learn the craft of fastpitch pitching.

The Hogs were rained out on Sunday and next play in Yorkville, Il. on May 5th at 1030am vs The Aurora Dolan & Murphy Shamrocks who are currently ranked 27th in the World by ISC Fastball.

In game one, Tim Murphy of the Hogs allowed one hit and struck out eight en route to a shutout. Jay Armes came in for one inning of work and did not give up a hit to finalize the shutout. The Hogs scored five in the second inning and eight in the third inning to win the game 17-0.  The Hogs played excellent defense and had big games from Chad Crutcher 2x2 4R, Mike Drew 3x3 3RBI, Sean Cavasos 2x2 2R, and Dave Liddick 2x3.

Game 2
Brian Tobin started for the Hogs.  He finished the game with 4IP 2H ER 3BB 9K.  Tommy Crouch had 3RBI, Matt Smith was 3x3 and Mike Drew had 2RBI for the winners.  Five different Hogs had 2 hits or more as the Hogs won another short game 11-2
