Au Sable Forks, NY

The NY Swashbucklers took 3rd place in Au Sable this weekend, losing a hard fought semifinal game 2-1 to eventual champion Knoxville Ontario and star pitcher Juan Potolicchio.

Swash went 2-0 in round robin to earn the 1 seed in their pool, defeating Lorman's 3-0 and Donnaconna 4-2. New addition Steve Price picked up the win in the opener and Doug Hoffman picked up the win in game 2.

In quarterfinal action, an 8-1 victory over St Henri's, led by the 4 hit pitching of Doug Hoffman, home runs by Steve Price and Brian Erwin, and 2 hits/2 RBIs from Josh Horton set up the semifinal showdown with Knoxville. Swash jumped on the board first with an RBI single from Mike Hoadley. Knoxville added single runs in the 3rd and 5th before Swash threatened one last time in the bottom of the 6th. After a 2 out triple into the right field corner by Mullady, Jordan Taveras laced a line drive that appeared to be headed for left field but a great grab by the third baseman ending the inning and the threat.

Mike Hoadley and Steve Price were both named to the all-tournament team. Knoxville went on to win the championship game 6-1 over the Greg Garrity led CPI Classics.
