Ontario Challenge Cup recaps...

For all the details...see Gary Baughman's recaps on Al's Fastball..
All the game sheets and lineups  were scanned an sent to Gary in Iowa...who transcribed the details off the game sheets and produced some great recaps and stats....

Dave Birney wondered what had happened to the tournament wrap up for the Legends division of the recent ISCs in Quad Cities...

I was waiting for the attached photo be be forwarded is my only excuse...showing two legends of fastball...both great ambassadors of the game...

Ashland Ohio Battery defeated the Cobourg Force of Ontario 5 - 2 in the Legends division of the 2013 ISCs.  Cobourg defeated Sand Prairie Construction of Wisconsin 3 - 1 and Ashland defeated Stoney Creek Scrappers 7 - 6 in the semi-finals.

In pool play, Ashland had lost to Cobourg 3 - 0 to open the tournament...Ashland's other games included  a 4 - 0 win over Sand Prairie Construction, a 9 - 4 loss to Haywood Calif, and a 8 - 2 win over Rock Island Illinois.

Stoney Creek picked up a 7 - 2 win over Haywood Bay Area Merchants, 11 - 3 over Cobourg, and their tournament opener against Boscobol Wisc. 6 - 1.

The ISC 2014 host committee is looking forward to seeing all these "Legend" division teams and more in Kitchener in August 2014.

There are a few games left in the area...the St Thomas and District, the Kitchener Fastball League and the South Perth leagues are all down to final games in their playoffs...

The season is winding down...but tournament committees are planning next years tournaments and team managers are reviewing their rosters, and league execs are working on improving their leagues. There are weekly updates on the winter tournaments being posted on Al's Fastball. Orlando is not too far away...

Thanks to everyone who contributed to fastball this year...players, coaches, managers, sponsors,  fans, organizers, execs, scorers, announcers, game controllers, city and town parks and recreation staff, all the volunteers in food booths and at the gates...

See you at the ball yard....
