Durham College fastball student-athletes honoured by the OCAA



OCAA Women’s Fastball All-Stars

Hope Eagleson and Laura Arbour



TORONTO, Ont. - Durham College women’s fastball student-athletes were honoured at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) women’s fastball championship banquet on Thursday night hosted by Humber College in Toronto.



Laura Arbour (Whitby, Ont.) and Hope Eagleson (Plattsville, Ont.) earned top honours as they were selected to the OCAA all-star team.



Arbour was an offensive powerhouse that led the OCAA in hitting with a .556 batting average. She contributed 14 runs, 20 hits and four RBI’s in 11 games for the Lords this season. Arbour’s season ended early due to a wrist injury.



Eagleson was a workhorse for the Lords, always bringing a lot of hustle and a great attitude to the ballpark. This was demonstrated in Durham’s walk-off win against Humber to clinch a playoff spot, as Eagleson ran out an infield hit in the bottom of the seventh to keep the inning alive. She was a productive force in left field and a key member of the Lords’ defence. At the plate, she had six runs, five hits, and two RBIs in 13 games played.



As freshmen in the OCAA, being league all-stars is quite an accomplishment for the duo.
