USA Softball Men's National Team to compete in Florida #ISGU2014

USA Softball Men’s National Fast Pitch Team to compete in Florida

OKLAHOMA CITY - The USA Softball Men’s National Team player pool will travel to Altamonte Springs, Fla. next week to compete in a Men’s Fast Pitch International tournament conducted by the International Sports Group Union (ISGU), the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America and USA Softball announced today. The USA Men are using the event as a player evaluation opportunity. Twenty-five athletes will compete for Team USA and make up two teams in the Florida tournament. From the 25 athletes, a final roster of 17 will be chosen later in the year to compete in an International Softball Federation (ISF) World Championship and Pan American Games qualifying event to be held in Parana, Argentina October 25-November 3, 2014.

The two USA teams will begin the 31-team tournament in Pools A and B. Pool play games will take place on Thursday and Friday with teams then being seeded into a single-elimination bracket scheduled to start on Saturday. The semifinals will take place at 11 a.m. EST on Sunday with the Championship slated for 1 p.m. EST.  All games will take place at the Seminole Softball Complex and Merrill Park in Altamonte Springs.

 

Among the 31 teams competing in this weekend’s tournament are international teams from Argentina, Panama, Puerto Rico and Venezuela, as well as other teams from around the United States.
