Nora NelsonNora Nelson of the RC Crush with Jenni Finch at a camp in Colorado in 2011. Jennie Finch Camps are coming to Rapid City in May. registration is open to girls in the area.

Jennie Finch is returning to Rapid City. The last time Finch was in Rapid was in July of 2008 as a member of Team USA on her way to the 2008 Olympics. They played Black Hills Gold, a South Dakota all star team on their Olympic Tour. Team USA won that game 7-0.

This time through, Finch is hoping that there are a group of new winners. That being the  young ladies who play ASA softball in South Dakota and the region. Finch is inviting girl’s through out the area to join her and some of her Olympic teammates for two full days of personal instruction.

What is bringing Finch back to Rapid City? 11 year old Nora Nelson, who plays shortstop for the U12 RC Crush, attended a Finch Camp in 2011 at Grand Junction, Co. Nora came away from the camp with a deeper love of softball.

Tricia Nelson explained "On the ride home from camp Nora's Wish was for her teammates on the Crush  to experience the same weekend she had."

As that dream grew Nora's family and friends got the blessing from Rapid City league to use the ASA Fields at Parkview Complex. After that they pursued the idea of bringing a Finch camp to town. They are also hoping to share that "dream", not only with the Crush team but with girl's from all over the South Dakota and beyond.

The camp will start on May 10th at 8:00 am and run to 3:00 in the afternoon. That evening there will be a Dinner of Champions held. On the 11th, the camp starts up again at 9:00 am and finishes at 2:00. Concessions will be available during the camp.

Part of the dream is to see the 2 new diamonds on the south end of Parkview be completed this summer. The proceeds from the concessions and Dinner of Champions will go to the 2 new fields.

Nora, her family and friends want you to join in living the Jennie Finch's motto, "Dream and Believe".
