St. Joseph, MO

St Joseph is preparing for this summer's Young Men's/Boys National Tournament.
Chuck Kempf ask me to send these attachments out to my contacts.
(I am not an employee of St Joseph Parks and Rec....I am a local old has-been fastpitch player with sons
and numerous email contacts)

Please....forward them along to your fastpitch group email lists.....fastpitch dads...whomever
you can.  Let's reverse the trend and show some growth in the next couple years.
Mankato has been doing a great job...let's follow up with a good tournament in St. Joseph.

Thanks,
Eric Lewis

Hi everyone.  Eric Lewis here from Winston Missouri.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone in St. Joseph this summer.
Winston is 45 minutes from St. Joseph but I would be around the ball park most of the time.
MSHSAA has allowed boy's softball to be exempt from a "fall dead period" which means that fastpitch dads that are
coaches/teachers can still get involved in the ASA Nationals....but the problem is...that situation only applies to 2 or 3 of us.
NOT MANY LEFT.
Hoping to maybe see some teams or kids from Eagleville (North Harrison), Jefferson and Winston?
But there is only ONE preexisting summer young men's teams that plays all summer toward this tournament. NW Implement.
Greg McQuinn might be the only one that has a 18/23 year old fastpitch team in a town that has hs boys fastpitch (NW Implement-Jefferson HS).
My young kids are about a year away from playing some men's ball.  My oldest son Craig is playing city league with me this summer
and I hope to field a young men's team in city league and even play a couple KC area tournaments NEXT summer.

I have the possibility of fielding 3 teams (3 sons).
Brian is in the 10-12 year old fields (he is 10)....most of his friends are a year older so leaning toward a 12 year old team.
a week before the tournament last year, it was asked if we wanted to combine the 10's and 12's....not sure
if that is an option this summer also.
Jacob is 13 so we would play in the 14 and Under....or move up and play in the 16 and Under...not sure if I would move his team or just him.
Craig is 15 so we would play in the 16 and Under....or if not enough, move up to the 18 and Under.
He just turned 15 so if there were no 16 or 18, he could play 14....but that is a worst case scenario.

If HIGH SCHOOL boy's softball folds in NW Missouri....is this our glum future?

Article about precedents and court cases for boys fighting their way onto "girls" sports teams....
"reverse Title 9".
A field hockey case in Missouri being discussed....also...
Some brave kid in Pennsylvania is wearing a skirt to play field hockey....you got to LOVE your sport, eh?

Everyone please give a REPLY all and jump in if you are considering bringing teams so we can start building a list of teams.

Thanks,
Eric
