2014 U10@Play Pilot Rules
 
Rules
  • 11 inch Worth Reduced Injury Factor Ball- R10RYFLL
  • 21 inch in Home Plate
  • Strongly recommend a Maximum of 9 players per team
  • Maximum of 9 players on the field
  • When playing with less then maximum of players, no automatic outs
  • Each inning, rotate who is the first batter
  • Unlimited defensive substitutions
  • Courtesy runner for the catcher may be used regardless of the number of outs
  • No player may sit more then one (1) consecutive inning
  • A player cannot play the same position in consecutive innings
  • The time limit of the game will be 1 hour and 15 minutes
  • Unlimited offensive conferences per inning
  • Two defensive conferences per inning
  • Player pitching to the opposing team until the batter receives a 4th ball.  The hitter’s coach will now come in to pitch and carry on the count.  Each team for their first game of the U10@Play event will test this rule
  • If the same pitcher hits two (2) batters in an inning he/she will be removed for the rest of the inning
  • No intentional walks
  • All players bat in an inning.  Last batter is announced to the Umpire and the defensive team
  • Late players are placed last in the batting order
  • No Bunting
  • No Third Strike Rule
  • No In Field Fly Rule
  • Runners cannot steal bases; Runners may leave the base when the ball has crossed the plate
  • Sliding is allowed
  • Following a fairly hit ball, the advancing of runners is considered “over” when the ball is returned to the infield
  • Runners do not advance on an overthrow
  • No protests or appeals
  • Scores and standings are not kept
  • A Home Run line â€“ cones are placed 25 feet behind 3rd base; 35 feet behind 2nd base and 25 feet behind 1st base
 
 

 

REMINDER:  Call 2014 for U10@Play Event Host

Softball Ontario in partnership with Provincial Women’s Softball (PWSA), Ontario Amateur Softball Association (OASA), and Ontario Rural Softball Association (ORSA), is seeking hosts to pilot the new Softball Canada Minor Softball Rules for the weekend of July 26-27, 2014 across the province!
 
Softball Ontario’s U10@Play events are to encourage a friendly, social and non-competitive atmosphere and capture the following principles of the Learn2Train stage for LTPD:
  • Fun, participation and learning
  • All softball players with various skill levels playing softball all together
  • Developing FUNdamental skill movement and softball skills
The U10@Play Events can be held for any level of softball – House League, Select, Rep. or Open and can be Female, Male or Co-Ed- all levels are encouraged to apply.
 
All U10@Play qualifying events must be at the U10 level and must be willing to adopt the rules as provided by Softball Ontario.   A copy of the U10@Play rules  can be found on the left hand side of this email broadcast.

Who Can Host?
 
Eligible U10@Play Hosts are:
  • A member of one of Softball Ontario’s Fast Pitch Member Associations (PWSA, OASA or ORSA)
  • Paid in full Softball Ontario’s Local Softball Association/House League Service Fee member
 Terms & Conditions for U10@Play Hosts:
  • Hosts must complete an online bid form
  • The U10@Play Pilot is not intended to be a revenue making event
  • Fee charged to the participants are subject to approval Softball Ontario’s U10 Competition Review Committee
  • U10@Play Host must not charge a gate fee
  • U10@Play Host must accept all terms and conditions
 U10@Play Format
 
In addition to piloting the new Softball Canada Minor Softball Rules, U10@Play Hosts will also offer the Softball Skills Zone and Softball Fun Zone to add excitement to the event.  A Softball Ontario Representative will be on site to lead the Softball Skill Zone to offer instruction and conduct player skills assessment.

Applications must be submitted to Softball Ontario via online application by Noon on May 30, 2014 to be considered.
