Additional athletes accept invitation to USA Softball Women’s National Team Selection Camp; Tickets available for tour stops


OKLAHOMA CITY – The Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America and USA Softball announced today four athletes who will join the already released list of athletes who have accepted an invitation to the 2014 USA Softball Women’s National Team Selection Camp scheduled for June 9-12. Additionally, tickets are now available for selection camp exhibition games in Lynchburg, Va., Findlay, Ohio and Purcellville, Va. and a sole exhibition game in Waldorf, Md.

During the five-day selection process athletes will participate in position drills as well as simulated games and be evaluated by the Women’s National Team Selection Committee (WNTSC). Following camp, athletes will begin a three-city tour of exhibition games in which they will be further evaluated. June 22 - Women's National Team Roster Announced 

 

 

The first set of exhibition games will take place on June 13 in Lynchburg, Va. as the WNT Selection Camp athletes take on a team of local athletes who will be coached by two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Dot Richardson.  The first game of the doubleheader will begin at 7 p.m. at City Stadium with tickets starting at $15 for general admission and reserved tickets for $25.  An opening ceremony will kick off the game at 6:35 p.m. and there will be a post-game autograph session.  The WNT Selection Camp invitees will also be putting on a clinic on the morning of June 14.  Click here to purchase tickets for the Lynchburg exhibition games and to register for the softball clinic.

 

Following the Lynchburg tour stop, the WNT Selection Camp invitees will head to Findlay, Ohio where they will play in a doubleheader against a college all-star team on June 17.  Tickets are $10 with the first game beginning at 6 p.m. at Marathon Diamonds softball complex.  An autograph session will follow the doubleheader.  Click here to purchase your tickets for the Findlay exhibition games.

 

The last stop of the WNT Selection Camp will take place on June 19 in Purcellville, Va.  Tickets start at $11 for outfield seating (bring your own chair/standing room only) with general admission tickets available for $17 and reserved tickets at $27.  Held at Fireman's Field, the doubleheader begins at 6:30 p.m.  Click here to purchase your tickets for the Purcellville exhibition games.


Once selected, the 17 athletes who make up the 2014 USA Softball Women’s World Championship team will compete in six different events throughout United States, Canada, Italy and the Netherlands. Fans in the United States will get three opportunities to see Team USA with two exhibition stops, Morgantown, W.V on July 3 and Waldorf, Md. on July 29, as well as the World Cup of Softball IX in Irvine, Calif. July 7-13.

 

Tickets for the doubleheader exhibition games on July 3 in Morgantown, W. Va., which will be held at Hawley Field, are available by clicking here.  The first game begins at 6 p.m. with general admission tickets available for $15 and VIP tickets at $20.  In their final contest in the U.S. on July 29, the WNT will take on a group of Maryland all-stars at 7 p.m.   Held at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf, Md., tickets start at $20 with an autograph session following the game.  Members of the WNT and coaching staff will also host a youth clinic on July 28.  Click here to purchase tickets for the Waldorf exhibition game and to register for the softball clinic.

 

For their international contests, Team USA will travel to compete in the Canadian Open Fast Pitch International Championship July 14-21 in Surrey, B.C., Canada, Italian Softball Week August 6-10 in Azzano, Italy and the ISF Women’s World Championship in Haarlem, Netherlands August 12-24 where they’ll look to improve on a silver medal finish from the previous World Championship.
