                            NORTH STARS LOSE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 2014

                            There was a doubleheader in Quentin Seeley Fastball on Monday night June 16th in Azilda . In the opener at 7 p.m. , we got a slugfest between the Garson Hounds and the Dog House Eatery  & Sports Bar .. When everything was over , the Hounds had come from behind to defeat the Dog House 15-14 . It was not a pitchers night for either side with no less than 22 hits each 11 hits ( 8 singles , 5 doubles , 4 triples and one home run ) .. Mike Greslow( 0-3) started for the Dog House and took the loss his third , going 5 innings before being relieved by Moe Coutu(0-0) in the 6th .. Matt Behn ( 1-0 ) started for the Hounds and was replaced by veteran Pat Brennan (2-1) in the fourth to get the win . Gino Firigo( run , 2 doubles , 2 RBI’s) and Dan Quesnel ( run , triple , RBI ) hit 2 for 2 for the Dog House . Jeff Welsh for 2 for 2 (run,double , 2RBI’s) Eddy Roy (2 runs ,2 doubles ) , Ed Brennan 2 for 3 ( run ) all hit well for the Hounds . Marc Bertrand also hit a two run shot to right field ..
                                It had to come eventually . The North Stars after beginning the 2014 campaign at 6 and 0 tasted their first defeat at the hands of the young Panthers 6-5 . Gary Lamothe ( (3-2) collected his third win of the season giving up 5 runs ( 1 unearned and only 1 run only in the last 4 innings ) , on 8 hits , 1 strike out and not issuing a single walk . Carter Joncas (4-1) also went the distance for the North Star suffering his first loss of the season . Juncas gave up 6 runs ( one unearned) , 10 hits while fanning 5 batters and not issuing a single walk . Second baseman Curtis Brown led the way for the winners going a perfect 3 for 3 at bat ( run , 2 doubles , RBI ) with teammate Matt Cousineau chipping in with a 2 for 3 ( 2 runs , RBI ) performance . For the Stars , Ben Bast hit 2 for 2 ( RBI ) and Jesse St Cyr hit 2 for 3 ( run ) at the dish .
                                   League play resumes at the Lorne Brady Memorial Park in Garson on Thursday June the 19th .In the opener at 7 pm , when the Sudbury North Stars clash with rival Garson Hounds followed by the nightcap at 9 pm where the Dog House Eatery and Sports Bar battle with the Panthers .

Memorial Fastball Tournament . We are 38 days away .We’d love to see at least 12 participating teams .
