The Circle Tap Dukes went 3-1 (10-1 overall) in the Midwest Fastpitch
Classic over the weekend, losing in the semi-final to the Kegel Black
Knights. The weather was overcast and cool most of the weekend but the
rains held off.
The Dukes opened the weekend with an 11-0 win over Hitters of Kimberly, WI
in a 5inning contest. Lucas Goring was 3x4 with a solo home run. Lewis
Weldon had two hits including solo home run. Tommy Crouch was 2x2 with a
three run homer and Todd Malnory also homered. Justin Colombo had two
hits.

Circle Tap then edged the West Fargo Knights 3-2 in a very tight game. CT
jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 2nd as Tom Crouch and Ryan Sinclair
singled and with two outs Colombo delivered a two run single. West Fargo
made it a 2-1 game in the 4th on an RBI by Brandon Aman. They evened the
game at 2 in the 5th on an RBI by Doug Holloway. The game remained tie
until the bottom of the 7th when Colombo singled, Lucas Goring singled,
and Lewis Weldon singled up the middle to end the game.

Circle Tap finished the pool play round with a 5-2 victory over Dolan &
Murphy (Aurora,IL). This was a scoreless game until the bottom of the 4th
when Chris Miljavac smashed a solo home run. With two outs in the same
inning Erick Urbaneja also hit a solo shot. Dolan made it a 2-1 game as
Cooper Carson smashed a ball to left field that slid by the outfielder and
turned into an inside the parker. CT tagged on two more in the 5th as
Todd Malnory singled, Jim Corbett reached on an error and Lucas Goring
delivered a two run single. Dolan & Murphy made it a 4-2 game in the 6th
as Ryne Reder was hit by a pitch and scored on a Dave Schuett triple. The
Dukes made it a 5-2 game in the 6th as Tommy Crouch and Ryan Sinclair hit
back to back doubles.

Circle Tap won pool B and faced the two seed from Pool A. Circle Tap lost
in the semi-final to Kegel Black Knights of Fargo, ND in a very wild 9-8
extra inning affair. Circle Tap jumped on top in the bottom of the first
as Lewis Weldon singled, moved to second and scored on an Erick Urbaneja
base hit. Kegel scored three times in the top of the third to take a 3-1
lead. Mike Lewis led off with a home run. Jacob Rooke and Zach Warne
sincled and BJ Gulick delivered a two run double. CT got one back in the
bottom of the third as Lucas Goring singled, moved to second on a wild
pitch and scored on a Weldon base hit. The Dukes then took a 4-3 lead in
the 4th as Todd Malnory doubled and with two out, Chris Miljavac tripled
him in and scored on a Goring base hit. In the top of the 5th Kegel
reclaimed the lead 6-4 as Jacob Rooke reached on an error with two outs
and then Warne and Gulick hit back to back home runs. CT made it 6-5 in
the bottom half as Weldon hit a lead off solo bomb. CT evened it up in
the bottom of the 6th as Miljavac was hit by a pitch, Goring singled and
with two out Urbaneja knocked him in. The game remained 6-6 until the top
of the 8th. International tie breaker was in play. Kegel's BJ Gulick
flew to center for the first out but advanced the runner to third. Rick
Saunders reached on an error that scored followed by a Tommy Thompson two
run shot to make it 9-6. The CT Dukes did not give up. In the bottom
half Justin Colombo sinlged in Chad Huebner (tie breaker rule). With Two
out an infield error allowed Weldon to reach first, Colombo scored.
Weldon attempted to go to 2nd but a fine back up play on the overthrow to
first gunned him down and ended the game.
The Circle Tap Dukes are next in action next weekend in Bloomington, IL
for the Stix Tournament
