Laurier Women’s Fast Pitch – Assistant Coach Position

Laurier Women’s Fast Pitch of the Ontario Intercollegiate Women’s Fastpitch Association (OIWFA) is seeking two assistant coaches for the 2014 season and beyond. The ideal candidate is competitive with an extensive knowledge of the game and a strong leadership capability and the ability to motivate and persuade others in a positive direction. The incumbent is well organized, works efficiently and is successful with time management. The ideal candidate is also dedicated to developing meaningful, collegial working relationships with students, faculty, and staff across campus; and has the ability to work collaboratively, be flexible and compromise in order to move forward as a team. Excellent communications and public relations abilities are a must.

Purpose of Position:
Assists the head coach in recruiting student-athletes, coaching, promoting and managing all phases of the Fast Pitch team in compliance with all institutional rules and regulations as well as OIWFA policies

About the Position:
The Women’s Fast Pitch program competes in the OIWFA. The regular season is comprised of 22 regular season games (4 games per weekend for 5 weeks) followed by a Provincial Championship tournament. The successful candidate will be required to fully commit to an extensive September/October schedule as well as administrative support and training in the off-season and leading up to the fall schedule. Training camps will begin Labour Day Monday.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assisting head coach in organizing and managing all phases of the Fast Pitch program but not limited to recruiting, team travel, strength and conditioning, student-athlete monitoring, match scheduling, budget management, community involvement, etc.
  • Organizing and managing all aspects of the Women’s Fast Pitch program
  • Coaching student-athletes in preparation for competition and during competition
  • Develop competition schedule
  • Assist in budget development and operate women’s Fast Pitch program within allocated budget
  • Maintain positive public relations with the Kitchener-Waterloo community, donors, supporters, and media representatives
  • NCCP Competition-Introduction Trained/Certified an asset (or equivalent)
