INDIANS SWEEP DOUBLE-HEADER
The Alvinston Indians hosted the Shedden Force in a double header on Thursday evening in Alvinston, where the Indians where able to use the newly installed scoreboard in right centre-field for the first time!

Alvinston sent pitcher Jeff Lyons to the mound, while Shedden countered with Jason Dawdy.  Both pitchers were relatively clean through two innings, but Shedden scored the first run, after a J. Gilbert RBI single.  Alvinston however, had an answer in the bottom of the third, when they pieced together 4 runs, for a commanding 4-1 lead.  Joe Triest singled to start things off, Jamei Shields followed with a single of his own, and Jeff Lyons doubled to score both runners.  Aaron Stocking then hit a single to score Jeff Lyons, and then Craig Lyons had the fifth consecutive hit of the inning, when he singled to plate Stocking.  In the bottom of the fourth inning, number nine hitter Bryan Johnson hit a solo homerun for Alvinston, to increase the lead to 5-1.  Then with 2 out in the same inning, Shields singled again for Alvinston, and Jeff Lyons spanked a two-run homerun, to make the lead 7-1 in favour of Alvinston.

Shedden would piece together two runs in the last inning, but that was it, as Alvinston won game 1, 7-3.  Jamie Shields, Craig Lyons, and Jeff Lyons were all 2/3 for Alvinston, while Jeff Lyons got the win on the mound, clubbed a homerun, and drove in 4 of the 7 Indians runs.

In game #2, Alvinston sent young pitcher Travis Pavey to the mound, while Shedden countered with their ace, Nic Goetz.

Alvinston got to work early, when a single by Jamie Shields, was misplayed in the outfield  allowing   Shields, to circle all the bases, to score the game's first run.  Jeff Lyons then walked, and would eventually score when Craig Lyons doubled over the left fielder's head, for a 2-0 Alvinston lead.

Alvinston got right back to work in the second, capitalizing on another Shedden error, when Ryan Chapman reached base on an error. He advanced to second on a groundout, and then scored on a Joe Triest RBI single.

Meanwhile, Travis Pavey was throwing well for the Indians.  Pavey tossed 4 innings of shutout ball, fanning three Shedden swingers, and allowing no runs on two hits, with two free passes.  Veteran Doug Charlton came in in relief of Pavey, and continued on with the strong pitching.  Charlton was touched up for a solo homerun by Cassidy North, for Shedden's first run in the top of the fifth inning.  After his one blemish, Charlton would allow only the one run, in three innings of work, securing the win for Pavey, while allowing three hits and two walks.

The final score of game #2, was Alvinston 4, Shedden 1.  The Indians improved to a record of 12 wins and 1 loss on the season, and sit in first place in the league standings.  They travel to Port Huron on the weekend for a tournament, and then step back on the diamond on Monday evening for a doubleheader versus the Argentina Men's National Team, where they will play at 6 and 8 pm, in what should be a spirited and special affair for fans!  Come on over and check it out.
