Circle Tap at NAFA Open

The Circle Tap Dukes went 5-0 and captured the NAFA Open World Series
championship over the weekend. The pitching staff and defense was near
perfect allowing just 5 hits in 5 games and allowing no runs on the
weekend.

Game 1
Circle Tap opened pool play with a 5-0 win over the West Fargo Knights.
CT broke open a scoreless game in the 6th by pushing four runs across.
Fernando Petric led off by reaching on an error, was sacrificed to 2nd by
Ryan Sinclair and scored on a Matt Palazzo single. Lewis Weldon followed
with a two run homer. Bruno Motroni singled and scored on a Tommy Crouch
base hit. CT tacked on another run in the 7th on a Motroni single.

Game 2
Circle Tap then defeated Rooters of Fargo 7-0 in 5innings, scoring 7 times
in the 5th. Justin Colombo led off with a base hit, moved to 2nd on a
passed ball, Fernando Petric sinlged, Matt Palazzo picked up an RBI single
and Lewis Weldon smashed a three run home run. Erick Urbaneja hit a solo
home run and with two out Sinclair singled and Tommy Thompson ended the
game with a two run homer.

Game 3
Circle Tap then finished pool play with a 10-0 5inning victory over the
Bronx of Saskatchewan. CT pushed across an unearned run in the 2nd inning
to take an early lead and added three more in the 3rd as Fernando Petric
singled and Matt Palazzo followed with a two run bomb. Erick Urbaneja
then hit a solo shot. The Dukes scored 6 times in the 5th as Petric
singled and Palazzo again followed with a two run bomb. Lewis Weldon
doubled and scored on a Urbaneja base hit. Tommy Crouch and Ryan Sinclair
each singled and Tommy Thompson hit a two rbi single. Joel Goodall hit
into a fielders choice but drove in the final run.

Playoffs
Circle Tap earned the 1 seed and a bye. The 5th seed Phillies of Winnipeg
defeated the 4 seed West Fargo Knights.

Circle Tap defeated the Phillies 5-0. CT got off to a fast start putting
up 4 in the first. Fernando started the game with a triple and scored on
a Palazzo double. Lewis Weldon reached on an error and then Motroni hit a
three run bomb. Fernando Petric hit a solo shot in the 2nd.

In the finals the CT Dukes played the 3 seed Kegel Black Knights. The
Knights defeated the 6 seed Rooters. The 2 seed Saskatoon Diamondbacks
were upset by the 7 seed Bronx 8-0. Kegel then defeated Bronx 5-4 scoring
three unearned runs in the bottom of the 7th to get the win.

Circle Tap defeated the Kegel Black Knights 7-0 in 6 innings in the
finals. CT got on the board in the 2nd as Tommy Thompson smashed a two
run home run. CT made it a 4-0 game in the 4th as Erick Urbaneja singled
and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Tommy Crouch doubled and scored on
a Thompson single. CT put up three more in the 6th as Crouch doubled and
attempted to steal third and the throw went into left field allowing him
to score. Ryan Sinclair then walked and Thompson smashed another two run
homer to end the game.

Circle Tap is now 23-6 on the year and travel to South Bend, IN for the
ASA National Championships. They open play on Thursday night at 7PM
against the Topeka Toros.
