Sudbury, ON

KIRKWOOD , PAQUETTE , ROY , McDONALD ,CHARTRAND & RIENGUETTE WINNERS IN 1999

The last time a Sudbury team won the 28th Annual Lions World Senior Fastball Tournament was some 15 years ago in 1999 at the 13th annual tournament played in North Bay .This year its in Azilda for the very first time and will now remain here . The same coach/manager who led the Relics to victory , Ike McDonald , is also coaching this year’s edition of the Relics which is expected to be a very strong team and will battle for the championship ..Other remaining members of that team who are still with us and will be playing for the 2014 edition are : Eddy Roy (presently at ISC Worlds in Kitchener with Waterdown Hammer ) and Pitou Paquette .Other living members are Jim Kirkwood and Mickey Chartrand retired .We lost our friend and mighty fine pitcher ,Brad Rienguette , to his long courageous battle with pancreatic/liver cancer some five years ago in September of 2009 . Jim Kirkwood , this year’s honorary chairperson also won this title in 1990 at 4th annual tourney also played in North Bay .
More details on that 1999 winning Relics’ team in Friday’s edition + a photo or two.
