Elkland, PA- Our team, the Elkland Fastpitch Team finished in 3rd place this past weekend in Elkland at the 2006 5th Annual Elkland Open Class Labor Day Tournament, ending the weekend with a 5-2 record. Given the amount of rain that fell Saturday, it is downright remarkable that the grounds crew's were able to save 2 of the 3 fields for play on Sunday and Monday. Sundays games were shortened to 5 inning games due to the loss of one field, but Mondays games were back to the normal 7 inning games.
As a native of Elkland, I cant remember one single time that the tournament lost one full day's worth of games, yet were able to save the tournament and get it the tournament completed.
Patsy's and the Gremlins were both loaded with great players, between the two rosters I think a good portion of the New Zealand national team was there. Both teams put on a great show this weekend, from plays in the field to pitching to their hitting.
