Umpire Sharples set to call his Billionth Pitch!

During a recent tournament, some careful calculationswere done to figure out really how many pitches Brian Sharples has called inhis entire life.

 

After umpiring for over 25 years (http://www.softball.ca/Officiating/ODCContacts.aspx),Brian will reach the 1-Billion pitch mark sometime during his next assignment,tonight at Dieppe Park in Toronto It has been estimated that Brian is currently at 999,999,965 pitchescalled to this day.

 

Brian is excited about the future too.  When askedabout this milestone, Sharples commented that, “The first billion were challenging– it’s the next billion that I’m looking forward to.”
