Family, Friends, and Team Mates of Dave Blackburn
Â
Here’s an update for you from the ‘The King and Me’ team:
1 new Announcement:
Family, Friends, and Team Mates of Dave Blackburn
First, a heart felt thanks for your contribution to Dave Blackburn's effort to share the story of Team USA and the Maccabi games spanning over a quarter of a century of competition.
This is to announce the second round of crowd funding to attain completion funds for the documentary, The King and Me. Dave's family, Brian and Curt of Paradox Productions want to see Dave's legacy turned into documentary reality. The heavy lifting has already been done now it's a matter of picking up the pieces and putting the puzzle together in post production. We estimate post production for a piece like this to take about a year.
The first round of crowd funding took Dave, and film crew to Israel for the 19th Maccabi games. Dave was honored there by being the banner barer for Team USA with his nephew Landon Blackburn at the opening ceremonies of the games.
He was also given the honor of throwing out the first pitch of the fast pitch finale for the gold medal. The Maccabiah surprised Dave by retiring his number 7 from competition at the end of the medal ceremonies. All of which we captured on film.
With your generous contribution we shot over 50 interviews in various locations from Israel to Santa Fe Springs over a year and a half. We sorted through 100's of hours of archival footage and transcoded it, then imported on to drives in preparation for editing.
We have some roughed out sections of the movie for your consideration.
We miss Dave and his enormous sense of humor. We want to honor his memory by completing what we started two year ago.
The funds received will go to the post production phase (Writing, Editing and Narration) of this documentary. Any funds left over from the fund raiser will go into a, "Dave Blackburn Fund", to aid financially challenged athletes to compete in the Maccabi Games.
Dave Blackburn RIP
