ASA/USA National Office seeks Turf Manager for ASA Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City

 

 

OKLAHOMA CITY ---The Amateur Softball Association (ASA)/USA Softball of America, the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States, seeks applicants for the position of ASA Hall of Fame Complex Turf Manager. The individual’s primary responsibility will be working with the Amateur Softball Association’s Hall of Fame Complex’s four fields and the complex’s common grass areas in Oklahoma City. 

Interested applicants should include a resume and a cover letter explaining why they wish to fill the position. Applicants will be screened and a select number will be invited to interview in Oklahoma City in mid-December. The successful candidate will be brought on board as soon as possible but no later than January 16, 2015.

Position Title: ASA Hall of Fame Complex Turf Manager Position 

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, skin maintenance, clay repair around plates and pitching areas, painting, chalking, mowing, edging, irrigation work, aerating, topdressing, setting up and breaking down temporary fence, equipment repair and maintenance and all other jobs given. 
2. Develops programming and plans for field maintenance according to Department and staff required standards.
3. Coordinates and performs work to ensure upkeep and maintenance of all fields for continuous use. 
4. Cooperates and communicates with necessary staff members in providing safe, clean and well maintained fields for general use and scheduled events. 
5. Must be willing to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays during the season.
6. Manages up to fifteen (15) seasonal maintenance employees. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning, scheduling, appraising performance, managing timesheets and resolving problems. 

Required or Desired Skills: 

1. Advanced knowledge of agronomy and environmental turf grass management practices including pest/disease/weed management; an understanding of soil chemistry; a working knowledge of sports field construction, principles, practices and methods; and a thorough understanding of softball requirements for field layout and marking;
2. .. Knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the management and operations of sports fields and facilities (including, but not limited to employment, safety and environmental standards, laws and regulations);
3. A high degree of administrative and executive ability, especially in terms of problem solving and decision making;
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills;
5. Knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the management and operations of sports fields and facilities (including, but not limited to employment, safety and environmental standards, laws and regulations);
6. Participation in continuing education opportunities such as seminars, workshops, web based training courses, field days and trade shows.
7. Current state certifications and licenses as a pesticide applicator. 

The pay range for this position is $37,000 – $44,000.
