ASA/USA Annual Meeting concludes with awarding of 2016 Championship Sites

 

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America and USA Softball concluded the 83rd Annual Meeting in Reno/Sparks, Nev. today after week of evaluating proposed rule and code changes for all divisions of ASA/USA Softball.  ASA/USA Softball also announced today its sites for the 2016 Championship season as well as the National Softball Hall of Fame Class of 2015.  In addition, the ASA/USA Softball Council voted unanimously to add two affiliate memberships to the following two organizations: NAGAAA (North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance) and Batters Up USA.

 

"Congratulations to all the cities selected to host a 2016 ASA/USA National Championship," said ASA/USA Director of Championships Chris Sebren.  "ASA/USA Softball has a long and storied history of hosting quality softball National Championships and we know these cities will live up to that legacy."

The National Softball Hall of Fame Class of 2015 was also announced.  The following will be inducted at the 84th Annual Council Meeting in Louisville, Ky.:

 

Charles Moss (Lanexa, Va.) - Meritorious Service

Sue Enquist (San Clemente, Calif.) - Meritorious Service

Steve Padilla (Manteca, Calif.) - Fast Pitch Player

Mike White (Eugene, Ore..) - Fast Pitch Player

John Davide (Centereach, N.Y.) - Slow Pitch Player

*Bonnie Anderson (Sherwood, Ore.) - Umpire

Mark Ingrao (Falls Church, Va.) - Umpire

Andy Dooley (Thaxton, Va.) - Commissioner

Tony Laws of North Carolina ASA was reelected to be the Southern Territory Vice President for a seat on the ASA/USA Softball Board of Directors and Joe Patterson of Nebraska ASA will continue his seat on the Board of Directors as the Northern Territory Vice President. In the Eastern Territory, new to the board was the election of Dave Persing of Pennsylvania ASA and the Western Territory elected Bill Parks of Idaho ASA as its representative. 

 

 

Bill Robison of the ASA of PA  was elected as the Central Atlantic Regional Director

 

Tom Schadt, ASA of PA Senior/Masters Commissioner, passed away recently. Funeral services were held today, Saturday, November 15, 2015. Please remember Tom  in your most sincere prayers. Tom loved the ASA game and will be sadly missed 

 

T he ASA of PA will hold its Board Of Directors and District Commissioners meetings on December 6 - 7 .the 2015 State Tournament Dates and sites will be finalized and announced at this time. 


The 2015 ASA/USA national council meeting will be held October 30 - November 5 at the Galt House in Louisville, Ky.  The 2016 meeting will be held in Shreveport, La. and in 2017 the ASA/USA membership and guests will head to Greensboro, N.C.
