Stuart Named Head Coach of
Men’s National Softball Team
(Ottawa, ON) Softball Canada is pleased to announce that John Stuart (Langley, BC) has been named Head Coach of the Men’s National Team. Stuart replaces Don Bates (Saskatoon, SK) who resigned from the position.
Â
“We are delighted that John has agreed to take the Head Coaching position†stated Kevin Quinn, President of Softball Canada. “The upcoming year is full of opportunity for our team as we host both the World Championship and Pan American Games. I know John and the players have high expectations for both events and we look forward to supporting them in achieving their goals.â€
Â
Stuart has been an assistant coach with the team since 2010 and had previously coached the Vancouver Grey Sox to a Gold medal at the 2007 Senior Men’s Canadian Championship. He has coached in BC for over 20 years.
Â
“I am very excited and honoured to be named Head Coach of Softball Canada's Men’s National Team†stated John Stuart. “With both the ISF World Championship and the Pan Am Games being held in Canada in 2015, the next seven months will be crucial in building a Championship team. I truly believe we have the athletes and staff to attain this goal, without a doubt in my mind. I look forward to putting in the work and do whatever it takes by working with Softball Canada, the team coaching staff and the athletes in the Men's National Team Athlete Pool to achieve our goal to become ISF World Champions and Pan Am Games Champions.â€Â
Â
The Senior Men’s National Team will hold a selection camp in May and will later compete in a pair of high profile events – the ISF XIV Men’s World Softball Championship from June 26 to July 5 in Saskatoon, SK and the XVII Pan American Games from July 12 to 18, 2015 in Ajax, ON.
