Erie 2015

January 20, 2015

Erie, PA

August 1-2, 2015

The Ed McCormick 2015 tournament in Erie took on an upgrade in the past couple days when the Toronto Gators committed.    This now means the teams who have 100% committed to Erie include:   Toronto,  NY Gremlins, Hallman Twins,  Hill United Chiefs,  PA Power,  Scarborough Force,  Michigan Aces/Mariners,  Northeast Drillers,  and NY Gremlins/Peligro Sports.

To avoid confusion, be advised, Gremlins/Peligro is a separate team from the regular Gremlins.   NY has fielded a 2nd team for a variety of reasons, including trying to get a league up and running in the greater NYC area.   The team will feature a great deal of international players and be truly competitive, playing an active schedule:  including finding places to play for the Gremlin International stars who will be on break after the ISF World in Saskatoon through the rest of the summer (ASA, Erie and ISC) while the American and Canadian teams shut down due to Pan Am games..    However, for Erie... BOTH teams will be at full strength and ready to compete at the Erie tournament.   I'm sure their roster will be released when they are ready.

One more team is awaiting final commitment.   But, it's obvious this tournament will be one of the top invite tournaments of the summer.    Or if I got really lucky,  a couple teams may show interest and I could do 3 pools of 4 teams.    It's hard to turn teams away who want to come play ball, and I want to do the best tournament possible.   So, it's a delicate balance between wanting the best world class tournament possible and not turning the top teams away while trying to make the schedule work.

For everyone coming in from out of town,  fans and teams,   the sooner you book your rooms the better.   As I've said before, I know the Avalon hotel is not the 4 Seasons although they've been ongoing with renovations.   The sooner you can book your rooms there, the better.    The teams and fans that will be coming will no doubt make the Avalon a sellout.

And, NO... I do not get a "kick back" from the Avalon.   But they do offer comp rooms per number sold, which are used for umpires, Al Doran and Ball Park Radio.   They offer a discounted price of $89 per night,  and it's the closest hotel to the ballpark, nightlife and downtown restaurants.   So, it REALLY helps the tournament when teams and fans stay at the Avalon.    Please contact <erica.roberts@avalonerie.com>  for your rate... mention the Erie softball tournament.

TOURNAMENT FANS...  the teams will be grabbing the lion-share of the rooms... the sooner you can book your rooms the better!
