Kay Alvey Passes

Kay Alvey passed away on April 17 of pneumonia, brought on by a 20-year affliction of Inclusion Body Myositis.  She was age 68.  Her obituary can be seen at www.sltrib.com/obituaries.
Kay holds a unique position in ISC and softball in general.  She was the wife of Vaughn Alvey who was ISC all-World in 1980 and the mother of Brett Alvey who was ISC all-World in 1992.

Kay Alvey Obituary
Draper, UT-Kay Taylor Alvey, our sweet wife, sister, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully, April 17th 2015 surrounded by her family. Her passing was caused by pneumonia, a complication of Inclusion Body Myositis, the disease she had courageous battled the past 20 years. Kay was born May 3rd 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Richard Hindley and Alice Fullerton Taylor. She graduated from Highland High school in 1966. That same year, Kay married her sweetheart, Vaughn Alvey in the Salt Lake City Temple, on August 31st. Kay's favorite hobbies were running, playing tennis, and giggling. Kay tirelessly attended and loved watching her husband, children and grandchildren play sports. Kay made sure her home was always a gathering place for her children's friends and welcomed all with love and fresh baked cookies. When her kids were grown, Kay loved working as an FN for Dr. Greg Tanner MD, where she enjoyed serving patients and touched many lives. One of her greatest passions was documenting her family though journals, genealogy, photographs, and scrapbooks. Kay was a faithful and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Kay will be remembered as selfless & brave and despite her health challenges; she never complained and always had a smile on her face and a contagious sense of humor.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Richard & Alice Taylor, Sister, Barbara Taylor Maycock, and nieces, Kristie & Susan Maycock. She is survived by her husband, Vaughn, sister, Janet Burningham, Children, Brett (Laura), Shad, Cody (Shannon), Kirsten & Cassie. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren who she adored Lexi, Caden, Colton, Easton, Boston, Kinnley, Ryan, Taylor, Tommy & Jane.
A viewing will be held Thursday, April 23rd from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Mountain View Memorial, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Funeral services will be held, Friday April 24th at the South Mountain Stake Center, 1911 East 14100 South, Draper, Utah. Friends may call from 10:30am - 11:45am prior to the services. Interment- Holladay Memorial Park, 4900 Memory Lane Holladay, Utah. Funeral Directors, Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary. Memories may be shared at www.holladaycottonwoodmortuary.com
