Some Major Tournaments Coming Up - #AlsFastball On The Road Again

Yes, we are on the road again.  Monday July 6, 2015 and within a few hours will pack up the lap top and head to the Saskatoon airport to head back to The Big Smoke.  I am not so sure that tag has the meaning it once had after sitting through a thick fog of actual forest fire smoke in Saskatoon this past week. First time ever I have seen smoke warnings in the daily weather forcasts. That being said on balance the weather in Saskatoon was simply outstanding!

It had been my intention to write a daily log of the #ISFMens2015 Tournament however with the information flowing like a river in spring time, there simply was not enough time. We did it at the 2009 ISF Men's World Championship but this time it was not possible.  I will however, as time permits this week add some comments to this article about the scenes behind the scenes in Saskatoon.

These past 10 days have been an amazing experience. Not only did I have the absolutely best seat in the house (if you have been following us on Twitter and Facebook, you know what I am talking about) but I also got to stay in a great hotel in Saskatoon with the best men's softball team in the world!

Congratulations to Team Canada, you were awesome. Winning the first world championship since 1992 and you did it in style.

Your behaviour on and off the field is to be commended. Professional in every way. Last night I was moved by the expressions of thanks to me by the team, that was very much appreciated.

Team Canada left the building in the middle of the night to catch their flights to all corners of the country and they did it without making a sound! That too was very much appreciated. Safe travels my friends.

Good luck to the team at the Pan Ams. Unfortunately I will not be there this year. The WBSC asked me why and I told them. 

Erie, PA is our next tournament to cover this summer and we are looking forward to it.

Yes, we are on the road again!  Thursday, June 25 we will be on our way to Saskatoon and we will be there for the duration of the WBSC World Championship #ISFMens2015.

We will be off line most of the day but hopefully will be back on line Thursday evening and for sure its our plan to be on site for the first pitch on Friday morning.  Stay tuned!

There are two major fastball tournaments coming up that we are once again honoured to be invited back to cover.

Those tournaments are:

Cephas Roth Memorial Tournament in Tavistock will take place June 18th - 21st, 2015.

and

August 1-2, 2015 - Erie, PA - Annual Ed McCormick Fastpitch Tournament 

 

In addition to these two outstanding regional fastball weekends, we are also very happy to share that we will have been invited back to Saskatoon to cover the 2015 WBSC Men's Softball World Championship June 25 to July 6.  We had a simply outstanding time in Saskatoon in 2009 and we are very much looking forward to going back.

 

Yes, there are a ton of other great tournaments being played this year all over the place but both Tavistock and Erie have been very kind to us and we held these weekends open so that we could return and cover their tournaments for 2015.

 

We will continue to report schedules and results from many other tournaments throughout the season but we just wanted to let our friends know we will be on site for both Tavistock and for Erie.

Erie is still looking for two more teams.  It will be Great with the ten teams signed up but it will be Super Great if the round it off at 12 teams. This is the unofficial warm up for the big show in South Bend #ISCWT2015

 

 

Nostalgia is a sentimentality for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations:

Perth Shootout, Kitchener Legends, Orillia Casino Rama, Monkton Invitational, Jim Bradford Classic, Midland Lefty Bartos and Lee Isenhart Memorial, all of which we enjoyed multiple times.
